What is Banana and Chilli Jam?

​​We are familiar with the term jam but another term that is used for it is called preserve. The process of making jam is essentially all about preserving fruits using sugar or some form of acid. The major difference being that this process preserves actual chunks of fruits in it, while jams don't. These are usually used as condiments or spreads and even accompaniments on some platters.

Such a versatile thing that also gets done in just 5 minutes with ingredients as simple as a banana, some sugar and red chilli.     How to make Banana and Chilli Jam ?

    1) Heat a fry pan on medium high heat. Into that add sliced bananas, granulated sugar and maple syrup. Mix it all together till it forms a syrup consistency.

    2) To the bananas add lemon juice and cinnamon powder. Mix it all together and lightly mash it up using a silicone spatula.

    3) Cook the jam till it's thick and finish it off with some red chilli powder. Adjust the consistency with water and transfer it in a bowl to cool down and serve.

    Expert Tips

    1. Choose ripe bananas for better results.
    2. You can also increase the quantity of chilli if you want.
    3. If you reduce the amount of sugar's quantity, the jam won't be thick enough.
